In this episode of 12-Minute Convos with Jesus Believers, Engel Jones connects with NGO founder, scholar, and peace advocate Philomena Zamani, joining the program from Nigeria. Raised in a devout Christian family, Philomena's personal walk with Christ truly began at age twelve during her secondary school orientation at Baptist High School, where watching a movie made her realize that attending church was not the same as having an authentic, personal relationship with God. Driven by a desire to share Christ's love without stepping onto a pulpit or singing publicly, twelve-year-old Philomena launched what would become the Zamani Foundation meaning "something new" to reach out through community service and rural evangelism.
Over the last three decades, Philomena's mission has expanded into rural areas facing violence across Southern Kaduna and beyond, bringing physical relief and the Gospel to communities in need. Alongside her ministry, her passion for learning led her to earn multiple degrees, including a PhD in Defense and Security Studies from the Nigerian Defense Academy and advanced studies at the United Nations University for Peace. Despite facing spiritual warfare, public speaking anxiety, and the temptation to rely on academic credentials or Bible school certificates, Philomena shares how God anchored her heart in trusting Him above all else. If you want to be inspired by a story of early obedience, continuous education, and bold Christian outreach, Philomena's testimony will deeply encourage your faith!
