In this episode of 12-Minute Convos with Jesus Believers, Engel Jones connects with Pastor Cyrus K Baraka, joining the program from Kenya. Cyrus shares a raw, global, and profoundly encouraging testimony of faith that began in his home nation of Rwanda. In 2006, while a secondary school student, Cyrus fell severely ill and was hospitalized. When a visiting lady shared the gospel with him, he made the defining decision to surrender his life to Christ. In a stunning display of divine authority, Cyrus was completely healed within two hours and discharged from the hospital that very day! However, his new faith was quickly tested when his father passed away the following year, forcing him to leave school due to financial hardship. In his moment of loss, a local pastor took him in, opening a season of deep prayer, fasting, and evangelism that ignited his pastoral calling.
In 2012, Cyrus relocated to Kenya to study journalism and mass media, but God redirected his steps to launch a full-time ministry in 2017. Cyrus vulnerably opens up about the severe sacrifices of his early ministry years including seasons of hunger, sleeping outside, and walking for over a year with just a single pair of broken, open-soled shoes. If you are currently walking through physical sickness, navigating the loss of a parent, or enduring the heavy sacrifices of your calling, Cyrus's comforting testimony and his reminder that God always provides for what He calls will deeply revive your soul!
