Growing up in a region plagued by severe poverty and hunger, young Abu Bakarr was taking a walk when he noticed a local church holding a feast with plenty of food. Hoping simply to fill his empty stomach, he snuck inside and was served a meal. Right after eating, he listened as the believers preached the Gospel, and the Holy Spirit touched his heart, leading him to surrender his life to Christ on the spot. 

Abu Bakarr continued returning to the church during their week-long event for food, but soon realized that his decision to follow Jesus needed to be sincere and lifelong. His choice came with heavy earthly trials; at age fourteen, his stepdad cast him out of the home, forcing him to live inside the church. Through years of hardship, hunger, and spiritual endurance, Abu Bakarr held fast to his faith. He shares a powerful miracle from his law school journey when, after failing a crucial examination, he engaged in a twenty-one-day fast[4]. God granted him a divine vision of an angel assuring him that no one could steal his destiny, and upon retaking the exam, he passed with excellence.
